·         Used to indicate a location or place :

·         Used to express while doing something :
Ø  In preparing for the final report, we revised the tone three times.
·         Used to indicate a belief, opinion, interest, or feeling :
Ø  I believe in the next life.

·         Used to point out specific time :

·         Used to indicate a place :
Ø  We saw basketball game at the stadium.

Confusingly Related Words


·         Live – Stay
Live means stay in a long time.
Stay means live in place temporarily as a guest or visitor.
Ø  Where do you live?
Ø  I will stay at the hotel for two days.

·         Say – Tell
Say means speak or tell something to somebody.
Tell means give information about something.
Ø  He said that he love me.
Ø  She told me that she would come in 30 minutes.

·         Remind – Remember
Remind means help somebody to remember something important that they mush do.
Remember means have or keep an image in your memory.
Ø  Remaind me to return your money.
Ø  I don’t remember to close the door.

·         Ride – Drive
Ride means sit on a horse and control it as it moves.
Drive means operate and control a vehicle.
Ø  I want to ride a Horse.
Ø  Can you drive a truck?

·         Borrow – Lend
Borrow means use something that belongs to somebody else.
Lend means give the use of something to somebody for a short time.
Ø  She borrowed my money yesterday.

Ø  She lends me some books today.



Commonly misused words


·         Hear – Here
Hear means pay attention to somebody.
Here means in, at or to this place.
Ø  Do you hear me?
Ø  I will stay here.

·         Male – Mail
Male means belonging to the sex that does not give birth.
Mail means official system used for sending and delivering letter, packages, etc.
Ø  Many said that a male and female feeling are different.
Ø  I don’t receive your mail.

·         There – Their
There means in, at or that place or position.
Their means det of or belonging to them.
Ø  They are waiting you there.
Ø  They have lost their cat.

·         Too – Two
Too means to a higher degree than is allowed or desirable.
Two means number.
Ø  You’re driving too fast.
Ø  I only have two books.

·         Eye – I
Eye means a particular way of seeing something.
I means person who is the speaker or writer.
Ø  She can do no wrong in his eye.
Ø  I am sorry to hear that.
